Harper Liedecke
390 digs | 75 sets | 5.2 per set

Harper Liedecke is one of six sophomore liberos above 5.0 per set, and she has held that rate over 75 sets. Her role has grown with the numbers. As a sophomore, she is a captain and El Capitan’s full-time libero.

“As a captain and head libero this season, my role is to be a leader on and off the court, encourage my teammates, and help keep everyone motivated. Last year, I split roles as a libero and DS. I’ve learned to take on more responsibility, communicate better, and lead by example while helping the team grow together.”

She plays with a setter-first mindset in serve receive. Coaches value passers who measure a good rep by what it gives the offense, not just whether the ball stayed up.

“My main focus is to help contribute to my team and help my setter run a good offense.”

She credits her offseason work and her coaches for the growth in her mindset since freshman year. That growth shows up in how she approaches the hardest part of the job.

“I have improved on my mindset by pushing myself in the offseason, with my coaches also pushing me to my maximum potential.”

“My favorite hitter is a hitter who is not afraid to swing and wants to put the ball away because it’s a challenge.”
