About Ilona

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am an athletic 5’10” setter always looking to attack. My court vision is one of my greatest strengths. I enjoy controlling the tempo, communicating with my team and prioritizing open hitters first. I can dump and hit when out of system. Defensively I love blocking and making plays around the net. I am also very comfortable digging and passing.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I fill my role as setter by being a team-oriented leader that is very competitive. I am aggressive in my efforts to win, but tactful in my relationships with teammates. I get along easily with my teammates and truly enjoy their friendship. I am honored to have been Team Captain for 3 years.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

2024-Current: Editor in Chief of the Yearbook at my Middle School 2024-Current: Co-owner of "EXP Volleyball" where I provide volleyball clinics and lessons on Fridays to elementary school aged girls in my community. 2025: Honor Society 2025: Art Contest 1st Place Winner - DAR 2023: Essay Contest 1st Place Winner in the State of CA - Elks Lodge Essay Contest - What is your American Dream?

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have developed very strong Time Management skills playing multiple sports and maintaining a 4.0 GPA every single trimester of middle school. My strong Leadership and Teamwork skills are continuously developing as I have been the Captain of my Volleyball team for multiple years as well as the Editor in Chief of my Yearbook class. Over 20 hours of community service at the Food Bank and more.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Owning a small business with my neighbor and close friend has introduced me to the challenge of aligning your goals, work ethic and vision with others, while maintaining the friendship and dream that sparked our business in the first place. I've learned that if I were to do it over again I would address all predictable and potential challenges from the start and discuss fair solutions in advance.

What type of college are you looking for?

My dream is to play Division 1 volleyball in California.
