How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Hey, I’m Imani! I love God, my family, my puppy, and VOLLEYBALL! I’m smart, strong, fast, and I’m used to fast game pace, scrappy, and have a powerful swing. I cover well and play good off block defense. I also block well. I like sets high, and just off the net to swing my best. I’m very excited about this club season, and hope to see you on the road!

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

My mentality is resilience. I have the ability to bounce back so, no matter how much we’re down in a game, I know how to fight.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I’m in honors classes and was just given awards for maintaining above a 3.5 GPA while completing school, club season and travel obligations for our Choir competitions. I was also given an award for our honors Choir. I’m also a member of Jack & Jill, an organization that dedicated to community service and education.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I am learning how to lead, because I’m not one who needs to be out front. I lead through serving others. I think it’s important that everyone know that they can lead, and contribute. I like to encourage and support whoever is on the court, whether it’s with my swing, or blocks, or the way I rally my team when we are fighting back. You can’t go wrong with being a great teammate.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Three years ago I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. I have had to learn to overcome and pay attention to my body like never before. I’ve learned so much in the last 3 years, but the most important is that I can overcome anything. My family and my faith in God have shown me that. I believe I am stronger and more resilient because of it.

What type of college are you looking for?

D-1, medium size school with Psychology major, theology minor. I’d like a school that loves its athletic teams and has a place for the arts as well. I’d also love to play for a coach who wants to build a culture…. Oh and a school with good gluten/dairy free food options!
