About Izzy

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I’m a very scrappy player, I’m not afraid to do the dirty work. In tough game situations I can still execute.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I try to stay positive every play and still encourage my teammates. I don’t like to blame anyone for the loss of a point, because there are so many factors in play that it can’t be just one person’s fault.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, I am junior class vice president, a member of the National Honors Society, as well as a member in FFA. Along with my clubs I have received awards for my academics in Health science classes, agricultural engineering, I’m also a part of the A,B honor roll.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I am the current captain of my high school volleyball team, and a leader in many other clubs and planning committees . I know how to work with others to get the job done and also encourage people to do their task. I also participate in many community service projects such as trash pick up and little kids coaches camps

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

My freshman year a senior didn’t show up to the practice right before districts so I played in her spot. She quit in the middle of the game because of this. After that game many of the players on the team disliked me and blamed me for what happened. Although it was hard I continued to play my best. That year we where district runner ups and went to regionals for the first time in almost 7 years

Russell worked on diversifying her attacks in the spring and it paid off in this game. Russell pounds balls from both sides and the back row. The Braves can count on her to make big kills when they need them. When Russell saw double blocks, she pulled up mid-air and tipped balls over them for big kills. Russell is also a smooth passer. Russell said she likes to mix hits up to keep opponents guessing and not let them shut her down.
