Jaylen Maroney Jaylen Maroney 5'11" | OH Edison | 2028 CA ‘s journey in volleyball began later than most, but her rapid improvement and dedication to the sport have quickly made up for lost time. Initially a club soccer player from the age of seven, Jaylen decided at 11 that she wanted to follow in her mother’s footsteps and try volleyball. With her mother, a former Division 1 volleyball player, as her biggest inspiration, Jaylen seized every opportunity to develop her skills.

Balancing high school volleyball with club soccer has been a challenge, but Jaylen’s commitment to recovery and time management has kept her on track. Her strengths lie in her ball control and defense, which she has honed as an undersized six-rotation outside hitter. Jaylen’s energetic presence on the court, combined with her love for both hitting and making spectacular saves, makes her an invaluable asset to her team.

“I want to prove that I should be on the court despite being a freshman,” Jaylen says, highlighting her determination to earn her place on the team. She also expresses gratitude to the seniors on her team for welcoming her into the Edison VB family, making her transition to high school volleyball smoother.

In her own words: “I would like to give a shoutout to my Seniors  Audrey Carevich , Allie Bravata,  Mason Mangus, Kylie Grundman, and Grace Fitzpatrick for welcoming me with open arms and accepting me into the Edison VB family. They have truly made the transition to high School  a great one and I can’t wait for the rest of the season with them.”

I first saw Jaylen Maroney Jaylen Maroney 5'11" | OH Edison | 2028 CA play in a friendly tournament hosted by the Los Angeles Volleyball Club, and she immediately reminded me of Kendall J Beshear . I was shocked when I saw her at the Freshman Showcase because Jaylen plays up. She is athletic, strong, a two-sport athlete, and incredibly determined. Jaylen’s mom is a teacher at Edison, and together they have attended many of Edison’s games. Jaylen has been waiting for her time to step onto the high school court and her time is now. Jaylen has been invited to join her varsity team at the renowned Ana Kang tournament in Hawaii. Today, she was one of the top hitters in the gym, capturing the attention of every coach and scout present.
