Due to injuries of multiple athletes on her Circle squad, Jenna has been forced into shouldering more of a load both defensively and in serve receive than she has in previous club seasons. Fully up to the task, Miss Dittmer has been the outlet outside for her 17 Purple squad, and has locked down her spot as a “ball control outside”, so much so that she’s already earned a bid to GJNC’s later this summer. I’d like to see a little more arm and jumping explosiveness from her, but for now, is quite serviceable as a six rotation option with steady and reliable production.

With injuries mounting on her club team at Circle, Jenna’s been asked to give more than her fair share of effort in order to earn that bid to GJNC’s in June. Realistically, Miss Dittmer is in an unassuming, six-rotation outside that has athleticism and volleyball smarts for days. She’s not the ‘rah rah’ kid—-she’s quiet, and does her job well. Specifically, she’ll fit onto a roster that’s more experienced and that will allow her to grow and mature into the player she’s capable of being.

Quiet and unassuming, Jenna is a smart six-rotation outside for one of the top 4A schools in the state. Although undersized for some D1 programs, she uses her well-trained skill set and high volleyball IQ to score points at will in both club and high school. I’m a fan of her resolve in the face of failure——even when things haven’t gone her way on the court this season, she’s still the same player who can be relied upon day-in and day-out.

A different kind of outside from Paige, Jenna is a lithe but explosive pin attacker and has all of the tools to be a full-time six-rotation outside. For the most part, Jenna’s quiet determination drives her play—-she has the potential to be the silent assassin on the court, and has always been a part of a program, high school AND club, that wins. Drive and determination is not an issue for this young lady, and her squads definitely invest in her leadership-by-example type of play.

A solid six-rotation athlete if there ever was one, Jenna is a multi-shot, multitalented outside hitter who can terminate from anywhere, front or back row. Her ball control is above average, she locates her “controlled kills” well, and knows when to tool when she has to. Quiet and unassuming, she’s not like a lot of the “look at me” types of players seen north of Indianapolis—she just puts her head down, works hard, and gets the job done. If you’re looking for a no-nonsense, six-rotation player that does a little of everything well, look no further than Jenna.

With all of the shots in the book and the complete package as a six-rotation outside hitter, Jenna has been more than ready for prime time viewing for a while now. Playing nothing but an open-level schedule for two solid seasons, she burst onto the scene all the way back at our PrepDig Gauntlet series last spring, and has done everything you could ask of a full-time outside and then some. Terminal as an attacker, consistent as a receiver and a solid all-around player, Jenna’s willingness to do a little of everything is not common among six-ro outsides here in Indiana, which separates her from the crowd in the Hoosier state.

Speaking of having the whole package, Jenna is an example of what a six-rotation outside should be doing at the next level. On defense and serve receive, she’s consistent with a calm platform and quick feet. She’s rarely out of position when on the floor defending, and makes great decisions with the ball when passing. On offense, Jenna’s powerful attack is at 100% regularly, making defending her a war of attrition. Of course, she’s not the only player on this squad, yet I would find it hard to believe that Circle’s 16-1 would be just as good if Jenna wasn’t present.

As a six rotation outside, Jenna has displayed all of the tools necessary to be exactly that at the next level. Her serve receive is calm and controlled. Her floor defense is anticipatory and accurate, and doesn’t reach too far outside of her frame—her footwork does the majority of the work. As far as her attack goes, she’s springy on her jump and gets up in a hurry. She explodes on the ball at the point of attack, and has all of the shots in her arsenal at any time. Aside from Shania listed above, Jenna might be the most complete six-ro outside in this class.

Dittmer was the standout of all the pin hitters I watched from the 16s division. She obviously jumps high and hits hard, but it was her ability to use the block that I just found exceptional for her age. In the championship game of the tournament she pretty much put her team on her back to pull out a win in three sets. Jenna clearly knows that if a shot is working, to continue using it until it doesn’t work anymore (you know, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it). That is what she did with tooling the right side block – she wore the other team down with it and it won the match for her team. I love any player who has the ability AND the confidence to swing at a big block over and over again because it can be demoralizing and utterly frustrating. Dittmer is a six rotation OH who is good at all facets of the game, including blocking, passing and defense. It is clear that she is a fierce competitor and physical leader for this 16-1s team, and she will be heavily leaned upon this upcoming club season.

Relegated to a lot of right side attacking in high school, Jenna’s future has her on the outside in our projection. I like her ability to disguise her attack until the last possible moment, making her that much more difficult to defend. Her heavy contacts come from a heavy arm, while her off-speed shots are smart and well-placed.
