Miss Bao is currently ranked No. 83 overall in the 2027 class in the Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. She is a five foot five libero who plays at Wylie High School and competes for MadFrog Volleyball Club. Jolene is the definition of disciplined ball control. One of the first technical details that stands out is how wide and stable her base remains while passing and digging. That strong foundation stabilizes her balance and allows her to absorb pace without drifting or overcorrecting. She does an excellent job tracking the attacker’s arm swing, which enables her to initiate movement in the correct direction before contact is even made. That early read is critical at higher levels of play. Her platform is quiet and controlled at contact, giving her setter a predictable ball that can be read cleanly and delivered in rhythm. You rarely see her heels hit the floor, which keeps her quick and reactive as she transitions between defensive responsibilities and hitter coverage. She also incorporates her hands effectively when needed, expanding her defensive range and giving her more tools to keep the ball off the floor. That versatility makes her extremely valuable in chaotic rally situations. Everything about her game points to reliability. She brings consistency, awareness, and technical discipline to the back row. She is the type of libero who allows an offense to operate smoothly because she delivers quality first contacts time and time again. Joelene Bao is a defensive specialist/libero on our 2027 watchlist who stands out for her hustle and relentless effort. She consistently makes plays and doesn’t let balls drop, showing her commitment to every rally. Joelene communicates well with her teammates, keeping the backcourt organized and alert. . She is definitely a player to watch as she continues to develop.

Miss Bao is currently an unranked prospect in the 2027 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but is on our official Watch List.  She plays for Wylie High School and also plays for the MadFrog volleyball club.  This young lady is a nightmare for opposing hitters as she has such a nose for the ball.  She was one of the most active back row studs in the gym for the entire two hours.  Jolene showed such a great ability to use her hands to set the second ball during out of system plays and also while digging the high ball.  If there is one word that comes to my mind that can describe her, it would be fearless.  She is the type of libero that every coach would want to go to battle with because of her desire to dig the ball no matter what.  As a defender, she is always putting herself in the perfect position to play the ball due to her strong ability to read the hitter well before contact of the ball.  I would be surprised if she didn’t average a double-digit dig total in every single match that she plays in her entire career. We loved everything that we saw from her and strongly encourage all coaches to give her a look as we think she can definitely play at the next level.  Please help us congratulate her on earning a Top Performer award at this showcase.
