Mitchell is a six foot two middle blocker who plays at Waco Midway High School and competes for Austin Performance Volleyball Club. She has verbally committed to continue her volleyball career at the University of Maryland. Mitchell is an exceptional blocker whose timing immediately stands out on film. She uses strong court vision to read the hitter’s line of approach and positions herself so the attacker’s arm swing stays directly in her midline. That detail is critical because it allows her to make controlled adjustments in mid air rather than reaching or drifting. With a powerful upper body and disciplined hand positioning, she is very difficult to tool or overpower. Hitters are often forced to alter their natural swing path and attempt sharper angles just to avoid her hands. Offensively, she brings the same level of precision and authority. She is comfortable attacking both in front of and behind the setter, giving her offense flexibility in tempo and spacing. Her big hands allow her to get on top of the ball and drive it with force to multiple locations on the court. She does not simply tip into open space, she terminates with conviction.
