Why not venture on the other side of the dial? Tegeler was the perfect complement to Sweers at Iowa Select 17 Mizuno’s left-side hitter position. As mentioned in Saturday’s pin hitter feature, Tegeler boasted a level of athleticism and explosiveness that were nearly unparalleled at the Quad Cities Quest. Her eye-popping broad jump captured the spotlight in home territory, and Tegeler is primed to take that show on the road.

Few athletes at Saturday’s competition could match Tegeler’s combination of explosiveness, burst, and shot variety. She wielded a seemingly infinite number of gaps to exploit whenever she went up to attack. This is likely because Tegeler could go over the top and negate blocks entirely. Iowa Select 17 Mizuno enjoyed a dominant run through Pool 2 of the AM wave, and Tegeler was undoubtedly a catalyst.

Tegeler stood out to me when scouting her during the last club season. I didn’t get to see her in person this past prep campaign, so I looked forward to watching her at the 2026 Nike President’s Day Classic in St. Louis. Tegeler did not disappoint with her performance in the Gateway City. The Northeast junior helped Select 17 Mizuno finish fifth out of 32 squads in the open division. Playing six rotations as an outside hitter, Tegeler’s overall skills and technical soundness were noticeably improved from a year ago. She can impact matches in multiples ways as she proved when piling up 297 kills (.337), 218 digs and 36.0 blocks as an 11th-grader.

Tegeler authored a strong sophomore season at Northeast last year. She led the Rebels with 207 kills (.242), and added 168 digs and 44.0 blocks. Tegeler has carried that momentum into the club campaign for a talented Select outfit. A bit undersized for a pin, she makes up for it with explosion off of the court and leaping ability. Tegeler generates a lot of power with her swing. She does nice job adjusting to the placement of the set and doesn’t try to do too much in the attack.
