About Julia

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am a high energy impact player. My gameplay is intense but between plays or after a successful play I use that intensity to build my team energy up around me. Never give up!

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

How you do small things is how you do all things is my senior quote. If something matters to me I want to do it with intent and care.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I have a 4.0 and effectively skipped a grade intending to graduate early in Jan 2026. My passion is conditioning and nutrition.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I believe in leading by example. Setting a goal and putting everything I have towards it.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I am from a small volleyball area with a shortage of gym accessibility. I wake up at 5am to prep a healthy breakfast, lunch and snacks before hitting the gym, because that's the only time I am guaranteed space. For club we have to travel for every single game, but the small team means that I get to play every set in every game since middle school and helped me develop a divers skillset.

What type of college are you looking for?

I want to play in program that celebrates my desire to push myself. I want to be able to lead by example but also to push towards always improving. I love the technical aspects of volleyball, especially setting. My dad is a volleyball coach and I was taught how to analyze my own film after every game and the importance of an honest self critique, and how to always be progressing my own IQ.

Slaughter, a setter for South Medford, is incredibly active on the net, tipping and dumping when she gets the chance. She sees the court and knows when opposing defense is lacking. Even on extremely tight passes she makes that effort to set her offense and always keep the ball in play.
