About Kaitlyn
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
I run the offense with a fast tempo and focus on making smart decisions to put my hitters in the best position to score. I’m quick to the ball and take pride in being consistent and accurate with my sets, whether it’s running quicks, back sets, or out-of-system plays. I like to keep defenses off balance by mixing up my set choices and using the setter dump when it’s available.
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
I bring a competitive but positive mindset to the court, staying calm under pressure and focused on the next play. I’m a vocal leader who encourages my teammates and thrives on building their confidence. My mentality is team-first, I take pride in making others better and keeping the energy high, no matter the score. Off the court, I’m hardworking, coachable, and driven to keep improving.
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
Outside of volleyball, I’m involved in HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America), where I’m building knowledge and leadership skills in the healthcare field. My long-term goal is to become a physical therapist, combining my interest in sports and health with helping others recover and perform at their best.
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
Leadership – As a setter and team communicator, I have learned how to guide teammates, stay composed under pressure, and make quick decisions that impact the whole team.
Teamwork – Volleyball has taught me to rely on others and to make the people around me shine. HOSA builds on this by working collaboratively toward goals in healthcare.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced is selective mutism, an anxiety disorder that makes it very difficult to speak in certain situations or environments, even though I am fully capable of speaking in others.
Volleyball helped me overcome this by pushing me to communicate, build confidence, and grow into a vocal leader on the court.
What type of college are you looking for?
I am looking for a college that offers strong academics in the health sciences to support my goal of becoming a physical therapist, while also providing the opportunity to compete in a competitive volleyball program. I value a supportive community, strong team culture, and an environment where I can continue to grow as a student-athlete and person.
