Kaloni Moala earned Top Performer at the SoCal UpNext Showcase, August 29, 2026.
Kaloni Moala sets with good hands and hustles after every ball, refusing to let a tough dig go to waste. She stays vocal throughout the match, directing her offense with confidence, and she brings a strong serve that adds pressure on the other side of the net.

Walk into a gym where a player you have never met is immediately making the people around her play better and you start paying close attention. That is what Miss Moala did at the Prep Dig Up Next SoCal Showcase. The chemistry she built with hitters from across Southern California who she was meeting for the first time happened fast and stayed consistent across both sessions of the event. Her setting was clean and her mechanics held up without the inconsistency that appears in younger players when the competitive level rises. Beyond the skill, the effort level she brought to every single rep and the positive energy she carried throughout the day made her one of the more enjoyable players on the floor to watch and evaluate. I will gladly be watching her very closely moving forward and cannot wait to report on her progress in a few years.

Kaloni is embracing a dual role and approaching the setter-opposite position with openness and determination. She has been learning the craft through feedback and repetition, eager to prove that she can excel beyond her previous middle position. The showcase gave her a chance to do exactly that. “I’ve been working on being coachable and taking in the information that coaches give me,” she said. Her focus on listening and adapting quickly allowed her to handle new challenges with confidence.
Kaloni’s goal this season is to use her voice and energy to lift her team in competitive moments. She knows communication and positivity are just as important as technique. “I want to be more loud on the court and cheer on my teammates,” she shared. Her steady confidence and team-first mindset make her a valuable connector on any roster. Fun fact: She enjoys collecting things like dolls and figurines. ~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247
