Perdew is not the only outside-setter hybrid on South Central NE 16 Black’s roster. We’ve seen Andel take over high school matches with her high-volume scoring for David City. But, like Perdew, Andel embraces a setter role with South Central NE and knows how to keep its high-octane attack flowing. She wielded a quick tempo to the outsides and became more comfortable with her backcourt sets at GJNC. These developments allowed 16 Black’s hitters to exploit split-block opportunities and terminate with authority–just as Andel can do on the high school stage.

Our first look at Andel came on the prep side with David City High School. She tallied triple-digit kills as a freshman and elevated those totals even further in Year 2. However, Andel takes on a completely different role with South Central NE as one of the team’s two setters in the 6-2 offense. Her pin-to-pin distribution was a key factor in 16 Black’s bid-earning performance at Kansas City’s Show Me Qualifier. Even if she’s not lighting up the kill column on the club side, Andel’s versatility makes her one of Nebraska’s most fascinating 2026 prospects.

Andel is the kind of hitter who can put up big numbers at any time. She made this a common occurrence at David City High School last fall, and it’s translating well to the club season. South Central NE 16 Black can lean on Andel to score on either pin while also allowing her to participate in the passing formation. South Central NE is getting a shoutout here. It’s hard not to like what this club is building, particularly after last year’s 15s group notched a third-place finish at GJNC. Andel rejoins the fray after compiling over two kills per set last fall with David City–a school that boasts a few high-volume scorers. That high-level prep experience should allow Andel to jump right into 2024 and help South Central NE reach new heights yet again.

A bit of setter-hitter representation is always welcomed. Andel carries both roles for David City, tallying 2.3 kills per set and 5.7 assists per set in her sophomore campaign for the Scouts. David City is a program worth watching in future wildcard race, and Andel has a lot to do with that optimism. Such a versatile player is rare at the prep level.

David City gets a stunning amount of offensive production from its sophomore class. Andel factors heavily in that tally, even as this versatile athlete also carries a part-time setter role for the Scouts. She’s racking up over two kills per set in the frontcourt to go along with her five-and-a-half assists per set in the backcourt, making Andel one of Nebraska’s most intriguing utility players in the Class of 2026.

It shouldn’t be a surprise to see South Central NE 15 Black well represented among the new additions. The team qualified for Nationals after a 15 Liberty championship at Show Me, and Andel was one of the squad’s key contributors on that special weekend. The David City native can do a little bit of everything.
