Austin Kingsley | Prep Dig Scout
Nebraska prep enthusiasts know all about Emery’s multi-faceted skill set. She has seen the state championship mountaintop with Minden High School as the team’s go-to setter and frontcourt attacker. She’s a perfect fit for South Central NE 18 Black’s 6-2 offense, which unleashes its star setters when they enter the frontcourt. It’s hard to say whether Emery had a bigger impact through her distribution or her quick right arm last weekend. Both were centerpieces of 18 Black’s rise to the 17/18 Open title bout.

Perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised that this multi-year state champion had another exceptional outing on the club stage. However, Emery’s persistent dominance, despite various roster shuffles for South Central NE 17 Black, has still amazed us all. This multi-talented athlete was a 17 Liberty all-tournament honoree after channeling her setter-attacker experience at GJNC. Our feature is talking about surprises, but don’t be surprised if Emery has Minden back in the state title race this fall.

Emery, like Ervin, does a lot more than just setting for her team. The sophomore is standout hitter for the Whippets who brings heavy heat from the left side. On the other end of the dial, however, Emery sets Minden to some eye-popping hitting efficiencies and one-on-one opportunities. She’s just building on the same role she had as a freshman, and Emery’s best moments are yet to come.

We’re bookending with a revisit with Nebraska Pride Gold 16s. Emery helps close out what has been an incredibly versatile group of pin hitters on this feature. Her setter-hitter role has persisted with Minden and on the club side with Gold 16s. Emery dishes out a smooth offense from the setter spot before seamlessly transitioning to a frontcourt opposite for three rotations. Big stages are nothing new for Emery, and we expect to see her on a few more this fall.
