Kara Schubert Kara Schubert 6'3" | MB Grant Community | 2028 State IL has had some major highlights this club season where if she has an opening the defense better guard their grill.  She can hit all the angles and with authority.  The sweet spot for Schubert is finding the deep zone one corner of the court.  She has developed a great connection with setter Adelaide Bruns Adelaide Bruns 6'0" | S/RS Johnsburg | 2028 State IL .  This team has a bid to Indy and has been playing an open schedule all season, they will be exciting to watch at the Prep Dig Gauntlet to start June. 

I’ve been able to watch this Sky High 16 Elite team a few times this years and I’ve been impressed with the play of Kara Schubert Kara Schubert 6'3" | MB Grant Community | 2028 State IL .  The 2028 middle blocker can put a hurt on the ball.  She is able to approach with purpose and isn’t afraid to swing out of the middle.  In order for her to swing like that, she is able to trust her setter and know what spots are going to be open.  She knows how to find the deep corner.  This is a really scrappy Sky High team and it will be fun to see them compete in 16 Open this weekend at the Windy City Qualifier. 

Everyone wants the tall, long middle that can move. You hope that they can contribute in any fashion; they will be placed just for the look. Kara does not fit that. Kara is a gamer, she is talented, and hasn’t even reached her peak yet. That’s not the scary part; it’s how good she is right now. Lateral footwork, athleticism, long reach, and court awareness. Her attacks make it hard not to play through her. She adjusts very well on set, plays at various tempos. As she continues to grow (scary) her status will too!

Kara is one of the better blocking middles I have seen in this age group. Her height, mixed with her ability to really drive and take big steps when blocking, will continue to make her an intimidating force at the net. Schubert communicates with her other blockers so well; as she reads the setter, she is in constant communication with her teammates, a skill that usually develops later. Lastly, she always had excellent court presence, with positive leadership whether her team was up or down.
