About Katelyn

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am very competitive, I love to win, and I love bringing my teammates up when they’re down on themselves because I understand how hard sports can be mentally.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am very competitive and uplifting person. Volleyball is hard to compete in if you can’t get out of your head and have a good mental game. So I like uplifting my teammates when they’re upset.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am involved in national honor society.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I am really big on being a team player. I am involved in National Honor Society, which requires community services.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

My freshman year I made the 1s team at my club after being on the 3s team my 8th grade year. I had an amazing year and played really well. My sophomore year I got cut from that team. I was placed on the 2s. My teammates didn’t have the same drive or passion as me; they didn’t care to win. But winning is all I wanted. It was hard being the only one who wanted to compete.

What type of college are you looking for?

A 4 year college where I have a supportive community and people who are my best friends but also teammates.

We have a college commitment to address. Mitchell dazzled us with her middle termination at last year’s Exposure Tour event, getting on top of the ball quickly to carve indefensible angles. Showcase environments can be tough for middles who have to connect with a rotating cast of unfamiliar setters. Despite this, Mitchell boosted her recruiting stock and paved her path to the next level. The Apex 16 National Navy standout has pledged to Rockhurst University and will bring her game-changing physicality to the Great Lakes Valley Conference in 2027.

Let’s bolster this team’s presence in the middle. Mitchell has an explosive approach in front of the setter and was at her best off two feet. Republic High School leaned on its star junior for nearly three kills per set this fall to rank second in the team’s scoring column. Mitchell was also the Tigers’ blocking anchor and wielded her impressive lateral movements at Sunday’s event. She has honed all her positional duties and still has more time to develop.
