Marissa Robertson | Prep Dig Scout
Kate Jones is an all-around beast who knows how to score, no matter where you put her on the floor. Jones is a lefty setter who doubles as a nasty oppo when needed. She excels in every skill of the game and still has a very high ceiling. The best thing about Kate is her ability to contribute to her team in any way she can, whether it’s setting and running an offense or hitting and throwing up a solid block. I am very excited to see how she continues to contribute to the Regina program this fall.

Jones’ height and long arms make her look like a middle hitter until the ball is put in play. After that, the United floor leader settles in as a dynamic setter capable of impacting matches in multiple ways. Jones moves well, flowing with the action and getting to spots where she can set up the attack. It’s a soft touch with precise placement. Jones sees the court well, threatening to end points with well-timed deliveries into the donut or heavy left-handed swings. She defends well at the net and is agile in serve-receive.

Coaches love a lefty setter. Jones brought this perfect combo to our showcase and displayed the kind of aggression you’d expect from a southpaw distributor. The Iowa United product was incredibly accurate as a setter while also establishing herself as an attacking threat. Jones scored at will on second contacts and will be an all-around force for Liberty High School next year.
