About Kaydence

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I would describe my gameplay style as very competitive. Yet at the same time, I am a very calm player and I tend to focus more on making sure that my teammates are in a good mood and are in the right mindset. That being said, I love to cheer. I will always be hyping up my teammates and myself because that’s how we win games, by believing in each other .

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am involved in a club volleyball team, SMV, and I also participate in my schools softball team. For which I have been on varsity since my seventh grade year, and my freshman year was chosen to be a team captain.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I feel like I have very much improved my leadership skills just in this past year. I have become a lot better about letting go of the last point and focusing on getting the next point. That is something I like to also instill into my teammates minds, that volleyball is a game of errors, and that they are going to happen but all you can do is figure out how to improve and go get the next point.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I faced a big challenge of losing our starting setter this season to injury, and having to readjust to a new setter to which we had no connection with. Then later in the year, losing one of our outsides to injury and having to take over her spot. All of this took a role on me yet I reminded myself that I needed to stay strong for my team and push through.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college that is offering the major I am going for. I would like to put my academics first and find a college that is going to get me somewhere in life and I can focus on volleyball after. I’m also looking for a college reasonably close to home.
