Miss Lalezari has really focused on the areas of her game she has been working on, specifically passing consistency and serving and both showed up well at the SoCal Showcase. Her platform was reliable throughout the event and she kept her body behind the ball on serve receive rather than reaching. The pace of the game increased throughout the scrimmage segments and her mechanics did not break down with it. This young lady was not afraid to take charge in the back row during first contact in order to keep her squad in system no matter who was serving against her. She brought an energy to her side of the net from the opening point and kept that consistent even during stretches when the momentum was working against her team. The foundation she is building at Coast and at La Jolla Country Day is one worth watching develop over the next several years.

“My biggest strengths this season have been my passing and serving, which help our team stay consistent. I also bring energy and communication on the court, always encouraging my teammates and keeping us connected. The most exciting part has been getting to compete at a faster pace and learning from the older players. The most challenging part has been gaining confidence and adjusting to the speed of the game, but it’s pushed me to improve and earn respect on the court.”
Kayla shared that playing club with Coast 14 Davis has been instrumental in her growth. Her future goals include competing at a high college level, and she wants coaches to know she’s hardworking, coachable, and always focused on team success. ~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247

approached GJNC with a daily improvement mindset. “We focused on the little things, our health, our motivation just getting better each day,” she said. While nerves were high, Kayla stayed grounded in the moment. “I knew I had to make the most of it because it was our last time playing together.” That awareness gave her focus, and her ability to stay present is part of what makes her an efficient, calm court presence. Reflecting on the experience, she added, “My team was the biggest support and made the tournament so much more fun!”
