About Kaylen

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I’m a competitive, high-energy setter who leads by example and works to create opportunities for every hitter. I value consistency, quick decision-making, and strong communication, and I take pride in running an efficient offense while playing relentless defense.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I’m a hardworking, coachable, and positive teammate who loves to compete. I enjoy encouraging those around me, leading by example, and embracing challenges that help me grow. Whether in practice or competition, I strive to bring a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and the determination to improve every day.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am currently involved in DECA and Letters of Love.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Through volleyball, I’ve developed strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills. As a team captain, I’ve learned how to encourage my teammates, lead by example, and help create a positive, supportive environment. I’ve also learned the importance of accountability, resilience, and putting the team’s success ahead of my own.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

One of the biggest challenges I've faced has been managing anxiety in everyday life. Volleyball has become a place where I can fully focus, be present, and enjoy competing with my teammates. The sport has helped me build confidence, resilience, and mental strength, and those lessons have carried over into other areas of my life.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m open to different types of colleges and programs. My biggest goal is to find the right fit—somewhere I can continue playing the sport I love, earn a great education, and be part of a team that feels like family.
