About as under-the-radar as you can get statewide, Kelsey is part of the uber-athletic Marx clan that dominates volleyball in southwestern Indiana. With size, athleticism and a high volleyball IQ, Miss Marx is more than capable of running a collegiate-level offense right NOW. In high school, she’s tasked with doing some hitting to help score points for the Braves. Realistically, she can do anything she sets her mind to, which in this case is running a high-powered offense at any level.

From a school FILLED with amazing female athletes, Kelsey is also from a volleyball family in the southwestern part of Indiana. Long and lean, she keeps her hands high when setting and locates the ball well in an up-tempo offense. In club, she’s been tested quite a bit and has all the makings of a multi positional star. With a high attack point and a whip for an arm, she can be part of a modified 6-2; she can attack from either pin in the front row while running an offense in the back row. Don’t make her pick one yet—I would hate to see this kid’s talents limited.

Kelsey makes this list as a class of 2028 freshman (most here are 16s players/class of 2027/sophomores) and although skill wise there may have been some older players who are further along, I think her ceiling for potential is high. She made this list because she can do multiple skills well (set and hit) at a young age AND has plenty of room to continue to improve; I am basing this one on sheer potential. Marx is a tall, athletic pin hitter/setter who hits across the front row and sets from the back. When hitting she displayed that she could hit both cross court and line with pace (both OH and OPP) and is the go-to player on offense. If she can develop a quicker approach and fine tune her timing, she is going to start generating even more power. Setting-wise her strength and height really help her to be able to push the ball to the pins from anywhere on the court with ease – her focus should be to get tons of reps in order to have consistent location.

ANOTHER Marx?!? This family produces high-level athletes like Hershey’s produces chocolate. Kelsey split her time with the Braves this past fall—in the back row, she was part of a 6-2, and in the front she hammered away at blocks. In other words, she never came out, and regularly filled the stat sheet. Big, physical, and able to do just about any skill on the volleyball court, she finished her first varsity campaign with an impressive stat line: 500+ assists, 200+ kills and 200+ digs. She could be the first in who knows HOW long to finish her career with 2000a/1000k/1000d. That’s just ridiculous how mature and well-rounded this volleyball player can be, but if anyone was capable, it’s Kelsey.
