The senior setter did her best to keep Manvel’s offense running despite some absences and not overload English. Massie tried to share the ball around as much as possible and found a good solution in using the middles in a moment when they were in a good rhythm. The senior also tried to contribute to the team’s scoring with crafty setter dumps and was successful in most of her attempts. Massie also did a solid job on the backcourt, serving well and playing strong defense.

Massie has been playing with the best for some years at the club level and has developed into one of the most talented and productive setters in the Houston area. Her playmaking skills are excellent and she knows how to make the most of her offensive options, pushing the right buttons in big-time moments. The offense was one of Manvel’s strengths against Travis and the team’s attacking system was brilliantly orchestrated by Massie. Always very calm and relaxed on the court, she made great decisions with her ball distribution and remained accurate during eh entire match. Massie also did a great job of keeping all her hitters involved and moving them around when she got to work with free balls, creating all sorts of challenges to Travis’ defense. She also stood out by going beyond her role as a setter and coming up with a big play every time her team needed it, be it scoring off of a setter dump and getting a dig in an important moment.

Manvel’s sophomore setter played like a veteran and guided her team to a big five-set victory against Barbers Hill on Tuesday and had arguably her best performance in the entire season. Massie’s ball handling was impeccable, prompting her to tally 45 assists, her second-best mark in the year. The setter also came up big at the net, producing a season-high seven blocks and five kills. Massie rounded up a fantastic performance with 14 digs.
