Yet another one of Indiana’s top 2029 liberos, Kennedi was rock solid at Sunday’s event. Butler was a strong contributor for Trinity Lutheran as a freshman last season, helping the Cougars to a Class IA State Championship. Kennedi exhibited great control in serve receive with good footwork and athleticism. Kennedi stood out as a passer during drill work and showed well in the scrimmage portion of the event. She will be a key piece for Trinity Lutheran as they look to win their third straight state championship this fall.

Trinity Lutheran——and subsequently, Cougar—-have a problem. They regularly produce high-end, Division 1 talent, yet not enough recruiters know about them, let alone what level they can play. Insert Kennedi, the next in line libero for a winning club and high school that anchors one of the best defensive teams in the state. Ignore the height, as Miss Butler plays much longer than her stature, and can defend any and all in- and out-of-system shots from opponents with ease. You’re also going to notice a little more floor direction from Kennedi, as she’s now older and more mature, allowing her to direct traffic with confidence. Having another coach on the floor that passes nails is a nice problem to have, and TL has Kennedi to thank for such a problem.

Part of a 1A championship-winning program at Trinity Lutheran, Kennedi is part of a cadre of defenders that have solid consistency for days. Written in her volleyball DNA are active feet, a calm platform, and solid anticipatory skills. She can read and react with the best of them, which is a good thing considering her size. If she’s anything like the last libero that passed through the halls at TL (who is now the starting libero at D1 IU Indy), she’ll be more than prepared for the bigger stage and brighter lights that college ball presents.
