Pexa stands out for her all-around athleticism as a multi-sport standout for Dunkerton. This winter, she led the the Raider basketball team in scoring during a run to the state semifinals. The Dunkerton volleyball team also reached the state semifinals with Pexa pacing the squad in kills (446, .373) and digs (368). She added in 48.0 blocks. She’s competing in track and field this spring, finishing eighth in the high jump at last weekend’s Watrburg indoor meet. All of the above speaks to explosion and quick-twitch. Despite not having the height and long arms we see at the net, Pexa has a really good feel for the block by getting off the court quickly and timing her leap, which is substantial. She’s also a hammer hitting from the outside or the opposite pin. Basketball might be her prefered path to college athletics, but plenty of volleyball programs on the next level would benefit from her being in their roster.

I watched Pexa play in the NL Qualifier about a month ago and found her to be basically unstoppable. She is one of those players that once you see play, you won’t forget. Playing a 6 rotation opposite, Pexa terminated big swings from the pin and played tremendous off blocker defense. However, it was her court awareness and her ability to anticipate that stood out that most for me. Combine that with her speed and agility and you get to witness Pexa track down out of system balls and create tremendous saves. Pexa is a fascinating player to watch and one that we will have to check back in on soon.
