Expert Analysis
Rob Howe | Prep Dig Scout
Asche is a part of an impressive 1-2 punch in the middle of the net for CIA 15 Black, which finished third at the USAV Iowa Regional this year. It earned it an American Division bid to this summer’s national tournament in Indianapolis. Asche is a presence as a two-way performer at her position. She’s powerful on the attack with explosion off the court and a solid vertical leap. The Dunkerton freshman gets on top of the ball and has a good idea where to direct the attack. She can put it down off of standard sets with a good feel on quicks as well. Asche keenly reads the opposing attack, flowing with the action and getting in position to throw up an effective block. She started all 42 of Dunkerton’s matches on the way to state semifinals, where the Raiders fell against eventual Class 1A champion Saint Ansgar. The ninth-grader contributed 82 kills (.248) and 99.0 blocks. Asche flashed her athleticism and agility with 266 digs. She’s a prospect to watch moving forward, one with a sizable ceiling.

Asche was a part of a strong CIA team that I saw a lot during the club campaign. Her play in the middle of the net was exemplary for the level and gave her squad an advantage over most opponents. Asche is athletic and tall with long arms. Natural instincts for being a two-way player up front are present. Asche stands out for her defense right now, which led to leading all of the state’s freshmen in blocks (62.0, 23 solo) through the Raiders’ first 69 sets. She contributed 48 kills (.264) and 157 digs, illustrating her broad range of volleyball skills. Asche’s development is one to monitor as a prospect packed with potential.
