About Laney

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am a very hard working player with great court awareness and the ability to place the ball. I am a great teammate with constant energy! I love volleyball and try to show as much effort and enthusiasm as I can in every play!

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I believe every play on the volleyball court should be played with max effort and 100% energy. I also believe that one mistake doesn't define you as a player and or a person. Volleyball is a game of mistakes so put your maximum effort into everything you do and you can't fail!!

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am involved in HOSA(Health Occupations Students of America), Happy day campaign (positivity club) , and Ambassadors (a Student leadership organization).

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I do lots of community service for my club organization and non-profits around Fayetteville Arkansas. This has helped me learn to use leadership skills on and off the court and has helped me develop as a independent person and helpful person. I am always ready to help anyone in need!

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Yes I have faced some significant challenges in my life! At the age of 8 I was diagnosed with Type One Diabetes. It has been difficult learning to live with this lifelong disease and control it while playing sports. Some days my body physically can not go anymore but I have to push myself. I dislocated my knee 3 times during 7th and 8th grade which resulted in surgery and a 2 year comeback!

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college in Florida or anywhere near the beach with a successful volleyball program and great education! I want to get to the highest level volleyball I can and also create a career in Kinesiology. I want the volleyball program at the college to be a hardworking program with great work ethic and have the best volleyball and school experience I can in 4 years.
