Larae Jones Larae Jones 5'9" | OH/DS/L McAllen Memorial | 2027 TX , a Class of 2027 outside hitter from McAllen Memorial High School and Texas Fierce Elite Volleyball Club, is a pin hitter from the Rio Grande Valley who competes with a physical toughness and offensive presence that deserves more attention. At 5’9″ she brings the frame and the athleticism to compete effectively on the left side at the next level, attacking with a confidence and willingness to swing in contested moments that tells you she has been trained to want the ball rather than avoid it. Memorial competes in a loaded District 30-6A in the Valley against quality UIL opponents on a nightly basis, which means the competition has tested her reads and her composure week after week throughout her high school career. She has earned Top Performer honors at multiple showcases that Prep Dig has put on over the past few years and that proves her consistency. Larae Jones Larae Jones 5'9" | OH/DS/L McAllen Memorial | 2027 TX put together a standout performance at the 210 Countdown City Classic, earning Top Performer honors by consistently setting the tone on the pins for Premier Volleyball. Already a familiar name to Prep Dig scouts and a member of the official Prep Dig Watch List, Jones showed clear growth in her offensive game, attacking with confidence and purpose throughout the weekend. From a technical standpoint, her ability to score at multiple tempos stood out, particularly in serve-receive rotations where she attacked quicker sets with clean footwork and efficient arm mechanics. As rallies extended, Jones seamlessly transitioned back to the left side, adjusting to higher tempo balls while maintaining range and shot selection. What separates her from many attackers in her class is her willingness to stay aggressive even after being challenged by the block, consistently finding ways to score or force defensive breakdowns. Add in her visible passion and competitive edge, and it’s easy to see why Jones was one an impactful and reliable performer in the tournament field.

Miss Jones is currently an unranked prospect in the 2027 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but is on our official Watch List.  She plays for McAllen Memorial High School and also plays for the McAllen Premier volleyball club.  We have written about her a few times since we were introduced to her during past showcases.  Her court coaches and some of our scouts remarked about her character on leadership on the court.  They mentioned that she was a “go-getter” who was a joy to coach and had some amazing intangibles that coaches would love.  She seemed to be very engaged with everyone on her court and that is difficult because she traveled very far to be at the event and likely didn’t know many players.  I have interacted with her a few times and loved every second of them.  I love that she loves the game and exudes that love at all times though her great smile and positivity.  As an attacker at the net, this young lady has some immense power and great hand contact to deliver the ball to wherever she wants to on the offensive end.  Her eyes are laser-focused on the opposition as she tries to read the play before it ends.  You can see that she is using her head to figure out the weakness on the other side of the court.  I love that she has a very high motor on the court no matter what position she plays and that will always return dividends to her squad.  Please help us congratulate her on earning a Top Performer award at this showcase. 

Larae is currently an unranked prospect in the 2027 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but is on our official Watch List.  She plays volleyball at McAllen Memorial High School and club for the McAllen Premier volleyball program.  Miss Jones was a joy to coach as she always had an awesome smile on her face and competed with a high motor at all times.  Armed with a solid hand contact and a powerful swing, Larae knows how to score the ball in a variety of ways.  She is a versatile player who can play on both pins and does not have any trouble with timing her attack on either side.  I like how she is able to change her hand contact on the ball and direct it to different location in order to have a better chance at scoring the point.  By not hitting the same shot twice in a row, she really improves her scoring efficiency with keeping the defense guessing where she will locate the ball.  Her power is immense and it tools the block without much effort.  This will be very big for any team that she is on and her future outlook looks great because she is only a sophomore.  We will keep our eye on her as she progresses in the sport.
