About Layla

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am a versatile and athletic player who adapts to my team’s needs. I play all-around in high school as an outside hitter and have been a middle blocker in club. My gameplay is dynamic, with strong attacking, solid defense, and a team-first mentality to contribute wherever needed.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am a hardworking and coachable player who thrives on competition and continuous improvement. I bring a positive, team-first mentality and stay focused under pressure. My determination and adaptability help me push through challenges, and I take pride in supporting my teammates on and off the court.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I go to a Catholic high school and am very involved with a missionary group called Hard as Nails. I am also involved in Key Club.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

As a leader in my team huddles and through Hard as Nails, I work to bring faith into sports, encouraging my teammates to play with purpose, resilience, and unity. These experiences have strengthened my leadership, teamwork, and communication skills, teaching me the importance of supporting and uplifting those around me. I strive to lead by example, fostering a positive and determined mindset.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

• Adjusting to different positions: Playing both outside hitter in high school and middle blocker in club has challenged me to adapt quickly and develop versatility. • Balancing academics and athletics: Managing school, sports, and extracurriculars like Hard as Nails has taught me time management and discipline. • Leading through faith: Encouraging teammates to bring faith into sports is hard

What type of college are you looking for?

I am seeking an NCAA Division I program that offers a strong balance between academics and athletics, with excellent academic support and a competitive volleyball environment at a medium to large university.
