From Maddie- “It’s hard not to write a full essay about Layne since we have been playing together since we were nine years old! For starters, seeing her grow into the person and player she is now has been a privilege! She exemplifies loyalty, perseverance, and competitiveness. These values are evident not only on the court but also off the court. As some may know, our team has gone through so much adversity in the past years, and Layne has fought through it all! Despite the noise about our team, she continued to grow her skills and toolbox. That makes her game so great; she can mix her shots when adversity is added to the match. You can count on her to constantly challenge the defense across the net, from bringing down the hammer on the line to cutting a sharp cross. Layne is a player who can take the game into her own hands when it’s crunch time. As a setter, I can trust Layne to make a match-winning shot, even when our opponents expect it. She has become a great leader who holds her teammates accountable and encourages them through rough patches in practice and games. She has her teammates’ backs. Without a doubt,

Dent has tremendous height and length at the pin, and has recently verbally committed to Saint Mary’s in the West Coast Conference. The rise up to the number #6 overall ranking is a reflection of her improvement as an attacker and defender. Dent is solidifying her six-rotation play, and at 6-foot-two she will be able to stay on the court to hammer balls on the pin and from the pipe.

Dent is a difference-maker playing six-rotation outside for the Cougars. At 6 foot 2, she is a difficult match-up for most teams, and she can experience scoring from the pipe against high level club competition. Dent is a tough server, and a go-to for the Cascade Christian setters when they need to find an option in an out-of-system situation.

PSVBA 16 Legacy looks for the 6’2 Dent to score from her outside hitter position, and the six-rotation player knows how to deliver. The sophomore from Cascade Christian continues to diversify her attacking, working the sharp angle and drilling shots down the line from both pins.

PSVBA Legacy 16 will compete in the 16 USA Division, and Dent is an outstanding scoring option on the pin and attacking from the pipe. The long athletic sophomore from Cascade Christian has a quick arm, good footwork on her approach from both pins and has settled in as a reliable passer in serve receive. Dent has been hammering line this club season, she has a high contact point that is difficult to stop when she is rolling.

The Cascade Christian standout is a vital part of a PSVBA Legacy team that has enjoyed success so far this season. (MHMC 9/152) The 6’2 six-rotation outside is attacking with power from both pins and has been an emotional lightning rod firing up her team. Dent has been putting up a strong consistent block, and handling serve receive work with no issues from her middle back spot. PSVBA Legacy will head to Arizona this weekend for the Fiesta Festival Classic, look for an excellent finish in Mesa for this talented group.

Dent will be the first option for PSVBA on the outside, and she returns for the team after a huge sophomore school season. She is a dynamic enough attacker to find in the pipe, along the right side, and in combination plays down the middle. The ability and precision of the two setters should allow Dent qualify swings in and out of system.

Dent was called upon to carry the offense for Cascade Christian this season, and she racked up 451 kills on the year. She has great length at 6’2 and a growing feel for passing and off speed shots. With room to get physically stronger, Dent has a great deal of potential still left in her overall game.
