Lexi Rushton reflect a player who embraces challenge instead of avoiding it. Facing bigger blocks this weekend forced her to get creative, make quicker decisions, and trust her adjustments after early swings were taken away.

That shift toward intentional attacking is showing up in her production.

She also credits coaching feedback centered around attacking sooner, contacting the ball higher, and staying fierce in transition, all of which are helping her see cleaner scoring windows.

With the Summer NIT in Mesa still ahead, Lexi’s game is trending toward confident, aggressive, and increasingly efficient under pressure.

Lexi Rushton Lexi Rushton 5'8" | OH Mountain Ridge | 2029 UT is always a player who will continue to improve because of her work ethic and competitive nature. A specific area I think she has really improved in is her ability to tool blocks confidently. When it’s a tight or off set, she uses the set to score high off the blocker’s hands instead of trying to save or manage the ball.

Another aspect she is continuing to grow in is her ability to read the block. Lexi is adjusting her swings with pace and direction when she sees holes in the defense. In several of the matches I saw her play in, she did a great job of executing and scoring down the line or into the angle, depending on what the block was giving her. Her awareness as an attacker is not only continuing to elevate her as a player, but also her team’s offensive abilities.

I have written about Lexi a few times now, but to reiterate, she has a strong foundation for all skills. As an attacker, whatever set she is given, she knows how to manage, but also how to score with it. That skill takes a great deal of time and deliberate repetition to develop and execute in a game setting, and her ability to do so highlights the dedication she has invested in developing it with confidence.

Her competitive nature and drive to become the best that she can be, motivate her every time she steps on a court –whether that be for a practice or a game.
