Lia was probably the best all-around OH I saw play over the three-day qualifier in Chicago. She has a deeper toolbox in terms of shot selection than any 2028 I have yet to see this club season, making her a very efficient attacker. My guess is that her ability to outsmart the opposing defense comes from her training (and serious success) on the beach. Lia is an ELEVEN-time beach national champ and a member of the USA U17 Beach NTDP. Her Tribe team loves to run her up the middle on the two-ball out of serve receive and she scores every time. She knows when to swing hard, when to push tip, when to roll shot to the corner – elite level stuff that she is already doing as a freshman. Add to that her insane ability to dig and pass the ball to the setter (again her beach experience!) the majority of the time, and you have a player that should be looked at by top schools for both indoor and beach. Write her name down – you’ll be seeing lots of Lia in the future.

Another Tribe 14 Cardinal standout is Lia Ray Lia Ray 5'10" | OH/DS/L Boca Raton Community | 2028 State FL . When you put her and Marciante together you have an incredible, six rotation, 1-2 punch in the class of 2028. What really set Lia apart for me was her defensive ability – this young lady can cover a TON of court and truly wore her opponents down when I watched. She almost made it impossible for the other team to score with the way she covered the floor from middle back. Add to that her ability to hit hard and effectively from the pipe position and you have a player that you do not want to take out of the game, like ever. On offense, her toolbox is endless. I witnessed her hit down the line, deep cross court corners, tips right over the block, roll shots to the middle of court AND a sharp cut shot that landed right along the net in zone 4. Not many 14-year-olds have the shot selection she does, and I cannot wait to see that develop over the next few years!
