Kekaualua is a ton of fun to watch play. She is a very undersized setter, but she absolutely does not let her size keep her from being a huge impact on the court. Even though she doesn’t end up assisting with blocks when in the front row, she still is critical to her team’s excellent 5-1 offense. She is so quick, dynamic, working extremely hard to get her hands on the ball as much as possible rather than settling for a platform set. She has outstanding hands on the set, great power to push the outside ball from anywhere on the court while also keeping opponents guessing when she will run first tempo sets to Westview’s outstanding middles. She is fearless and passionate on the court and it is infectious to her teammates.

Royal Kekaualua is a sophomore setter for Westview, running a fast tempo at the net and shooting balls to hitters. She runs a 5-1, stepping off the defend on blocks. The most memorable part of her setting is her quickness on her middle sets. Attempting to run a zero tempo ball, Royal Kekaualua stumps blockers and slows them down.

Kekaualua caught our attention early on with her defensive pursuits and hustle plays during four-square. During game play, she did an outstanding job making the smart set decision, and did so with accurate and consistent location.
