About Lyla

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

High IQ, fast, defensive setter that knows how to control the offense.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

Super competitive, natural leader that is willing to self advocate and not afraid to ask for feedback and additional coaching. Hard working and always looking to improve.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I'm a grade or two ahead in multiple subjects and many teachers have commented they forget my age because I often out perform older students. Switching to online school in January 2025 so I have the option to graduate a semester early, maintain a part time job and to have more flexibility with the travel demands of club ball.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

My parents have always pushed me to speak for myself and I've noticed my friends will comment how brave they think I am to be willing to have hard conversations. I'm a big cheerleader on the court and strive to bring positive energy to my team.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Honestly, I've been blessed with a pretty good life. When I was younger I went through a time of having some anxiety, but my parents were great about helping me find the tools to deal with it and have always prioritized mental health so I've always known how to handle challenges and have never shied away from them.

What type of college are you looking for?

I'm open to most types of schools, as long as they have a good sense of community and strong values. The most important thing will be finding a volleyball program that I feel at home in.
