About MacKenzie

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

As a young setter, I work hard to keep the game moving and bring energy to every point. I focus on staying sharp and making smart decisions that help my team stay connected and competitive. I know there’s always room to grow, and I’m committed to learning, improving, and giving my all for the team.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

My faith is my foundation, and it is found in everything I do, both on and off the court. I believe prayer and hard work go hand in hand, and my focus is always on improving—whether through taking coaching or pushing myself to be the best player and teammate I can be. I’m hard-working and lighthearted, bringing energy and fun to the game. Above all, I value time with my family and friends.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I’ve been actively involved in my church for four years, volunteering time and helping when I can. Academically, I’ve received Honor Roll throughout my middle school years. I also enjoy bowling and plan to continue competing in high school.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Through my experiences, I’ve developed strong leadership and teamwork skills. I've learned valuable lessons from my teammates, coaches, parents, and spiritual advisors. These lessons have shaped how I lead and support others. I also enjoy mentoring younger volleyball players, as I’ve been fortunate to have older players guide me, and I want to pass that same support along.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Managing my Type 1 diabetes on the court has been a challenge, but it’s taught me discipline, resilience, and how to stay focused. Over time, I’ve learned to balance energy and blood sugar, so it doesn’t affect my performance, making me a stronger player and teammate.
