Shurtleff has excellent body control and terrific eye-hand coordination; she is the epitome of a ball-control defensive player in the back row. She will move her body and platform in sync or separately to control a serve or swing and deliver it accurately to her setter. Shurtleff is athletic enough to play as an attacker during the school season, but with CRU, her defensive strength is showcased in the libero or DS role. CRU earned a USA bid at PNQ to secure their spot in Dallas.

Shurtleff is an OH during the school season for Selah High School and a good one. (Example: 22 kills in a match versus West Valley Yakima.) For CRU MAX at USAV Nationals, she handled the DS role and looked outstanding. She showed off her athleticism and strength, absorbing hard swings and breaking out some pretty dolphin dives to pick up shots that looked like they would drop for a kill. Shurtleff has shown she can excel as a pure defender and will offer a college program a versatile player with multiple position options.

The class of 2026 prospect from Selah high School and CRU 17 is an excellent athlete. Shurtleff roams the middle back for her CRU team, and has the strength to handle swings and serves with big pace. She adjusts well and absorbs the ball, keeping her setter out of the net and the offense running smoothly. Playing as a six-rotation outside for Selah has her well prepared for making plays defensively, and her 5’9″ frame gives her a bit extra when she extending out to make a stab to save a point.

Shurtleff is a fearless attacker, finding high hands and blasting through tiny seams in the block. She has been posting multiple doubles-double matches for Selah, and the 2026 has shown added accuracy and confidence attacking from the pipe. Shurtleff torched East Valley Yakima for 21 kills last week and is showing the confidence of a go-to pin attacker.
