Freshman Madison Powell Madison Powell OH Grace Christian-Columbus | 2030 GA already sits second in the GIAA with 308 kills. A freshman producing 24 kills will get attention. Twenty-nine digs changes the conversation. Madison is learning very early that being a primary outside doesn’t mean waiting through three back-row rotations for another chance to swing. She’s defending, serving and then still being asked to carry offense after spending entire rallies doing something else. That requires a level of physical and emotional reset that usually takes young pins time to develop.

What I’ll be watching is how her shot selection evolves now that teams have plenty of film. A freshman can surprise people for a while. A high-level attacker eventually has to score when everybody in the gym already knows she’s getting the ball. ~ S.Fitzgerald @BenchtoBeast_prepdigga
