About Maitlyn

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I absolutely love this game so I am incredibly grateful anytime I am on the court. I know my role as a setter is to help my teammates hit their full potential and I take that role seriously. I have a calm and strategic presence on the court that my teammates respect and appreciate, especially in a tight game.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

Every point should be treated as important and each mistake is in the past. If I find myself making a couple of mistakes in a row, I tell myself to go back to the fundamentals until I am back on track. I am definitely on the quieter side but don't underestimate me because of that. I am fiercely competitive and make friends for life!

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I participate in my high school's academic bowl in the English category and maintain a 4.0 while on the High Honor Roll each semester. I also work as a server for a catering company when I'm not in the gym.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

As setter, leadership is important. Being a bit shy, I have worked hard to push past that to be an effective leader on the court. I have learned that respecting each teammate and earning their respect creates an amazing team, both on and off the court. My club also organizes us with other age groups to do community projects throughout the year and I love connecting with players younger than me.

What type of college are you looking for?

I love to travel and explore so I am willing to go anywhere in the U.S.! While open to a smaller school, I prefer a medium/large sized school. I'm interested in aviation or business, but would also like a college with lots of options for majors, since I'm not quite sure what I want to do yet.
