Majesty Buchanan a 13U, played setter and opposite at the AAU Championships. A moment she chose to share wasn’t a kill or an ace. It was a read: recognizing where an opposing middle was about to place an overpassed ball, moving into position before the contact happened, and getting back to base in time to be ready for the next play. That’s an advanced sequence of anticipation and recovery for any age, let alone 13U. She described her own intensity as most visible whether her team is winning comfortably or fighting from behind late in a tournament, which suggests a consistency of effort that isn’t dependent on the scoreboard.

Her summer plans are focused on recovery and physical foundation ahead of her 13s season: red light therapy, cold plunges, private lessons, group workouts, beach volleyball, and camps. What stands out most, though, is how she talks about the sport itself. She said plainly that she believes volleyball is a community, and that if someone knows more, they should share it, regardless of what level a teammate or opponent plays at.

💡 Game You’re Proud Of

Skills that I feel are helping me stand out on the court are my ball-handling skills and my communication, but beyond physical skills, a skill that I acquire is my leadership and sportsmanship. I try to be an example for players on and off the court that encouragement and hard work go a long way and always giving you 1000%.

📲 Why This Post Mattered

Being featured on PrepDig makes me very happy and excited because I know that there are a lot of good players, and it is nice to know that my hard work is being seen. Even though I’m too young to be recruited, it feels good to be recognized. My motivation for creating the post is to show my love for volleyball and to motivate other people to work hard.

🧠 What Coaches Should Know

On the court, I am very dedicated to volleyball and give my thousand percent through my whole practice and all of my games, and I strive to be the very best version of myself. Off the court, I give the same energy toward everything else I do, like academics and other activities, and continue to go to the gym and get my reps in for volleyball. On the court, if I’m having a bad day, I will never bring negativity toward my teammates or let it affect my practice. I always do my very best even on my worst days and still help my teammates in the process.
