Please officially welcome Miss Biondi to the State Rankings. She is currently ranked as the 56th best overall player according to our Prep Dig California State Rankings. She plays at Agoura High School and for the Sunshine volleyball club program. You can’t teach height and Makena surely has a lot of it. The talented lengthy middle is set to play at the University of Hawaii next season and will give them some added depth on their roster. For being exceptionally tall, she still moves around the court rather fast. She is able to stop her momentum very well during her transition footwork in order to redirect her weight forward and change direction. This makes her super fast going from defense to offense. I also love how she explodes on her down swing to add some extra thump into her attack. Normally taller players tend to drift a little too tight to the net during their approach and this takes away some pace on their ball due to them not being able to swing with a true follow through, but Makena makes sure that this isn’t the case. She always has enough space between her and the net to follow through completely. She is a stud and will be a force at the next level.
