About Makenzie

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I aim to be a dynamic, versatile and dependable player each game. As an all-around outside hitter, it is imperative to be quick on my feet, read the game well, and make intelligent shot placements. Defensively, I play all out providing back row coverage and hustle plays. Being an energetic leader can really help shift the momentum in my team's favor.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I love to compete and am an energetic and communicative leader on the volleyball court. For me, being a leader isn't about being in charge. Great leaders help others become the best version of themselves and are a source of encouragement. I try to bring that mentality to every game I play.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Through several years of competitive club volleyball play I have developed strong court awareness, vocal leadership and being a reliable teammate. Staying calm under pressure is vital to win games. My game day endurance and mental stamina have strengthened significantly over the past several seasons.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Our team routinely competes in older age divisions, sometimes several years our senior. While this can be extremely challenging both physically and mentally, it has really helped up the level of my game and sharpened my volleyball IQ.
