Freeman has firmly established herself as a top six-rotation outside hitter with Athena 16-1 Gold. Previously used in a DS/L role, a growth spurt and improved attacking skills changed her trajectory. She was swung up to varsity at Jesuit—Oregon’s 6A State Champions—and has not looked back. Her serve receive and defensive ball control remain strengths, and she now complements them with a dynamic attacking range. At 6-feet tall with a high reach and aggressive arm swing, Freeman’s ceiling continues to rise.

Freeman has flexed her versatility this season for OJVA 15-1 Gold, but in key games, she has been seen in the libero jersey. Her skill will be critical in her team’s ability to compete in 15 National at USAV Nationals. At 5’11”, she is starting to develop her attacking abilities, but she shines across the backcourt. Aided by early angles and a sound platform, she displays consistent serve-receive, getting the ball to the setter time and time again.

Freeman was one of a handful of liberos employed on OJVA 15-1 Gold, but was in the libero jersey when we watched the team play. On serve receive, she exhibited a solid touch on the ball with disciplined angles, which allowed the team to stay in system. Standing at 5‘11”, she has a long reach and was able to sprawl out and save a lot of balls on defense.

Freeman played solidly all around during the Top 250 Expo. Thanks to a recent growth spurt, Freeman has started hitting on the outside, a position that is relatively new for the athlete who played libero last season. On Sunday, she showcased her impressive ball control on defense and her incredible steadiness on serve receive, both skills she developed as a libero. Freeman also used her high reach on the ball to put the ball away. She has a lot of untapped potential.
