About Maryella

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I'm a highly competitive player with a relentless drive to win. As an undersized hitter, I make up for it with my powerful, crafty hitting and blocking skills. My defense and serve receive are also key strengths, making me a well-rounded player who can contribute in all aspects of the game. I thrive in pressure situations, staying composed and clutch when it matters most.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I have an A type personality and am probably the most competitive person I know. I will always compete whether that's in practice and games. My personality is perfection and getting things done. Although I am competitive and want to win at everything I still am a supportive and reliable teammate and love to lead my team to win. I form relationships on and off the court.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

My honors outside of volleyball include: National Honors Society, Headmasters honor roll, Principals honor roll, History student of the year, Geometry student of the year, National History day state winner, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, spanish Honors society, National society of high school scholars, and Royalty and Swine week STUCO chair

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

As a volleyball player and a leader I have developed the skill of leading my teammates and taking initiative on and off the court. As a leader I have learned how to communicate and to lead each type of player and personality and how they will best respond to my leadership. I have grown as a positive teammate understanding the importance of team chemistry and trust on and off the court.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Yes, I have faced many challenges in my volleyball career and one of those being injuries. I have had a few injuries that have tried to push me back or put me on a lower team. However I always and will continue to come back from those injuries stronger than ever. Whatever it takes PT, 6 am workouts, privates, extra session, ect. I will be the first person there and the last to leave!

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college that supports me academically and athletically. I love volleyball with everything in me but academics will ultimately get me the farthest in life. I am also looking for a safe healthy environment that is not too far from home.
