Calm under pressure and dominant in the left-back position, Maysa is the best available DS in the Evansville area in the class of ‘27. Every movement of hers, both playing and NOT playing the ball, looks uber smooth, and she makes defending look easy (which it isn’t, by the way). I like the footwork, the long strides she takes to avoid crashing to the floor to make each and every touch of hers accurate for her setter.

A libero from a school and club not normally known for size or popularity, Maysa is a diamond-in-the-rough passer that has a relentless work ethic and will crash through walls to get the job done. She’s also improved her read-and-react footwork on defense, and anticipates better than most in this class on defense. In serve receive, her feet are constantly active, with a quiet platform that drives the ball to target. I don’t normally talk about defenders all that much, but when I do, they’ve earned the right to be watched more. Maysa is one of those kids that should have received a commitment by now, and probably would have if she lived closer to Indianapolis. I look forward to the remainder of her career and see where she lands in the fall of ‘27.

Maysa is a solid sophomore defender who plays left and right back for Evansville Memorial. They play a tough schedule battling against the likes of Brownsburg, Northview and Castle, so Lawrence has to be confident and courageous to play defense against some of the best attackers in the state, and she certainly plays like she is. What really stood out to me when I watched Maysa was her comfortability playing the ball on the floor and overhead; she did both easily and without hesitation. And in true great DS fashion, she brought consistent hustle and focus, even as a sophomore – she wasn’t afraid to celebrate and communicate when she played. Look for her serve receive to improve with more experience as this young lady develops into an outstanding DS for the Tigers.
