About Melia

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

My gameplay style is athletic, fast, and aggressive at the net. As a 6’4 middle with a 10’6 reach, I use my size, quickness, and timing to be a strong blocking presence and an offensive threat. I pride myself on being precise, coachable, and quick off the floor, while also bringing positive energy and support to my teammates every time I step on the court.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I have a positive, team-first mentality. I’m competitive, focused, and always looking for ways to improve, but I also believe in encouraging my teammates and bringing good energy to the court. I stay calm under pressure, work hard, and try to lead by example through my effort, attitude, and support for others.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

No I have not.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Through volunteering, I have developed stronger leadership, teamwork, and community service skills. While living in Costa Rica, I participated in several beach clean-up projects and neighborhood beautification efforts. I also worked with my classmates to create wall art and paint the Angie wall and gate. These projects taught me the importance of taking pride in my community and working together.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Yes, one of the biggest challenges I faced was moving back to the United States after living in Costa Rica for 10 years. I grew up on the Caribbean side of Costa Rica, close to the beach, so moving to the U.S. was a big adjustment. I had to get used to a new school, a different lifestyle, and a much faster pace. I also had to adjust

What type of college are you looking for?

D1 Sunny weather. SEC or ACC or Big 10 conference. Top 20.
