Let’s give a shoutout to one of the longest-tenured starting liberos in the Omaha area. Mayer soared past 1,000 career digs this fall and had her best single-season digging output by a large margin. She led the Crusaders with 5.8 digs per set and performed best against the state’s most lethal offenses. The Crusaders were a step away from breaking into the tournament behind Mayer’s steady platform in the back row. Whoever steps into that role will have big shoes to fill.
