This week, the destination of many teams will be Kansas City, Missouri, where the first of two weekends of the traditional ASICS Show Me Qualifier will take place from Friday to Sunday – 731 teams are entered to compete in the ten divisions in the 15s, 16s and 17s age group.
Texas teams will, of course, also make the trip North to fight for their spots and, as we’ve been doing with every major Qualifier, we’ll highlight some of the top prospects of the Lone Star State that will be on the court over the weekend. Keep an eye out for these setters:
Molly Aubert
Molly Aubert
Aubert will be with TAV 15 Black Fifer in the 15 Open division in Kansas City. She’s a setter with sound technical skills, who handles her playmaking duties extremely well and also contributes in other areas of the game. Aubert’s touch on the ball is extremely clean and she does a very good job of keeping her motion the same regardless of where she’s setting, making it difficult for opposing blockers to read her. She’s also very good at setting the ball to the right from anywhere on the court, something most setters of her age group can’t do at the level she does. Aubert does a solid job on the backcourt too, serving tough and showing good reflexes and ball control to play defense.
Minus will be setting for United VBA 16 Adidas in the 16 USA division of the Show Me Qualifier. She emerged as a promising setter during the last club season and has continued to develop since then. Minus is a technical ballhandler, who makes excellent choices with her ball distribution and knows how to adjust to the flow of the game. She’s always precise when setting to either pin and also plays with great energy and communication. Minus played as a defensive specialist in high school and is also capable of making a difference on the backcourt.

Pierce and her The Woodlands Skyline 16 Royal team will get on the court to compete in the 16 USA division. She’s an extremely technical player, who uses her soft touch on the ball to feed hitters anywhere on the court with precision and intelligence. Pierce is also extremely quick on the court and is always alert, a combination that allows her to get to passes and digs off the net in no time and still set hittable balls. She’s really good at pushing the balls to either pin and rarely misses her mark. Because of her quickness and ball control, the setter gets to contribute on defense too.
With Gray at setter, Roots 17-1 Green will be competing for the bid in the 17 USA division. She is, in some ways, a dream setter for many coaches as not many players in her position are able to combine technical and physical tools in the way she does. Gray has superior ballhandling skills and runs the team’s offense with great precision and good decisions. A lefty and an extremely athletic player, she’s an asset at the net, blocking well, scoring on setter dumps and even taking up hitting duties with tremendous efficiency when needed.

Kuehn and her Houston Skyline 17 Royal teammates will be on the hunt in the 17 Open division. She splits playing time with Kassidy O’Brien Kassidy O’Brien 5’10” | S Cinco Ranch | 2025 State #19 Nation TX , which gives the team a tremendous combo at setter. Kuehn is a technical and reliable playmaker, who keeps her teams in a good rhythm with precise sets and a smart distribution. At 5’11”, she has excellent size to play at the net and can block at a high level, but is also a standout defender and a tough server and is often brought in to play a defensive specialist role, working at the right back position.
