In key moments against SPVC, she tracked tips from left back and reacted quickly to keep balls alive that could have ended rallies. She also showed discipline on 10-foot line plays when coverage broke down, extending rallies with one-arm saves. Her consistent out-of-system sets allowed pin hitters time to transition and swing with options.

She is now focused on defensive positioning, specifically staying wide before working in, and increasing serving toughness. Lapuz recently led an overnight Junior Retreat and has been selected to prepare for leading Senior Retreat next year, a reflection of leadership trust beyond the court.

Mileena Lapuz Mileena Lapuz 5'1" | DS/L Sacred Heart Cathedral | 2027 CA competed at the NCVA Power League Qualifier, where her defensive presence and consistency helped steady her team during an up and down weekend. One of her standout moments came on a pursue play where she chased down the third ball into the bench, recovered quickly, and then filled a defensive seam to dig a hard outside swing, delivering a high, controllable ball to her setter that led to a kill. She also took pride in passing one of the opposing team’s toughest servers after that server had targeted one of her teammates. Mileena emphasized her commitment to staying consistent for her team, especially during stretches where overall team consistency fluctuated. Moving forward, she is focused on trusting herself more in serve receive, particularly adjusting her depth when teams mix short and deep serves. Off the court, Mileena recently earned her driver’s license on December 23, balancing practices, finals, and driving lessons, a milestone she is proud of and excited about.

Mileena brought aggressive swings and strong floor energy that set the tempo early. She showed command of the court, stayed vocal in serve receive and transition, and consistently challenged blockers. Her effort and mindset helped her group stay organized and competitive, making her one of the most influential attackers on her court.

The faster the game gets, the more Lapuz shines. This libero has excellent, fast feet that allow her to maneuver quickly on the court and get her feet behind the ball. She showcased this as she dropped, shuffled back, and was consistently able to give precise passes off her midline with ease. Lapuz also stays low and knows how to absorb big attacks. She was able to make some great digs on the day due to her technically sound skills and high game IQ.

Lapuz has great communication on the court always letting people what is open and what needs to be done. She remains open to hitters and adjusts her angles accordingly getting to the ball and playing it up.
