Riddle has an incredibly high volleyball IQ and displays it on a nightly basis, evidenced by the 15 kills in the state tournament against eventual champion Assumption. Riddle mixes up hard and soft shot to different locations on the court, trying to attack the seams or go after struggling opponents. Riddle’s crosses are especially tough to handle. Riddle makes the simple passes then quickly moves into her attacking stance. Riddle even executes from the back row effectively. Her teammates trust her to make plays. Riddle delivers a tough jump serve. Riddle still set up hitters some if needed. Riddle had 838 kills, 417 digs, 81 aces and 75 assists in the fall to help Shelby Valley win the first 15th Region crown in program history.

Riddle is a dynamic hitter at all six spots on the court, using a great wrist snap. She makes good in-air adjustments and is lethal on the go routes. Riddle hits balls to the two and four zones well on pipe plays. Riddle runs tandems well with teammates. Riddle is sound at first touches and has tough jump serves. Described as connected, positive and supportive by teammates and classmates, Riddle holds herself and her teammates to high standards on and off the court and takes coaching well. Riddle said the team works consistently on executing the pipe plays to the back right and left zones trying not to hit to the same places. Riddle added players become readable if they continue to hit to the same places. Riddle also said it was about placement and being smart with the ball for her in this game.

Riddle’s kills numbers have been off the charts since entering high school. She had 509 for a 5.14 kills per set average as a freshman then it increased to 556 as a sophomore for an average of 5.2 per set. Riddle (pictured) has not had to set this year allowing her to focus more on hitting and through 18 games, Riddle has 321 kills for an astounding 6.98 per set average this year. Riddle has a great approach toward the net and pounds balls down a number of balls different ways. Riddle also makes sound passes and has a good jump serve. Riddle does not like losing and is not afraid to admit it like she did Friday when the Kats finished 1-1 losing to Trinity Christian in the All “A” State Tournament after winning the first set. The Kats won the first 12 games of the season and finished 3-3 in the All “A” State Tournament losing to Eminence in the Bronze Bracket finals.

Riddle is doing an outstanding job continuing to fine-tune every aspect of her game. She continued to pound balls from all over the court including the back row in the recent UPike Camp Tournament. Riddle is showing improvement with her blocking. Riddle does a great job setting up her teammates with a variety of sets. Riddle’s speed improved playing with other talented players in the area during club season. Riddle is also a sound passer and server.
