About Nalani

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I would describe my game style of play as aggressive and strong. I am a determined player that will keep at it no matter what. I just completed my first year playing high school. I was on the JV Team at Otay Ranch High School. I had a very successful season with 302 kills and 81 aces. I received the Outstanding Offensive Player of the Year Award.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I have a quiet confidence about me that shows that I am humble. I do my best on every possession, and if the possession does not go my way I do not let it get to me. I work harder the on the next one. I am a great teammate that gets along with everyone.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am involved in the Black Student Union at my school and hope to continue on with the ASB.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I currently assist at my previous volleyball club by helping the younger kids develop their skills in volleyball. It is where I started, and I want to see them develop as much as I have. It has been nice being able to give back. During my JV season in High School, I was elected as one of the team captains. It gave me the opportunity to lead my team into a 38-2 season and undefeated in league.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I tend to get pigeonholed into the OPP position because I am a lefty. My goal is to be more versatile so I can stay in the game. It has been challenging to have opportunities to practice other positions, so I find a way to do that on my own.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am still researching specific schools; however, I want to play D1 even if it is a small D1. A medium to large school that has a variety of academic options.
