Natalie is a setter who does a lot of things well, and doesn’t seem to have any holes in her game when it comes to her and setting. She can run all the sets and from a lot of locations on the floor as well. Her hands are soft and strong enough to make difficult sets for other setters look pretty easy for her teammates. She really demonstrated the ability to run an offense from all over the floor and was able to connect with all hitters, especially the middles. Most impressively she sees the court well and isn’t afraid to distribute the ball around, which keeps the offense balanced and makes it harder for defenses to sit on one option.

Natalie also has some great form when it comes to passing and playing defense. She also is exceptional with her speed and can get to a great spot for defense after setting up the offense. She seemed to be all over the place at the showcase. On top of that her defensive instincts really stand out, especially with her ability to read hitters, get her hands on balls, and keep plays alive that could easily turn into points for the other side. She does all those little things really well and really stood out as a top performer with her ability to do all the factors needed in a top level setter.

Natalie Chung Natalie Chung 5'10" | S Notre Dame Prep | 2030 State AZ is one of the tallest setters on this entire showcase roster regardless of class. At 5’10”, her height at the setter position adds a dimension that college coaches rarely find at the prep level. What adds a lot of intrigue is the evaluation runway ahead for Chung is substantial given that she still has her entire high school career in front of her. The physical profile draws the first look, but what will keep coaching staffs watching is whether she sets with consistency across all tempos, how she uses her length to disguise at the point of release and whether her volleyball IQ is advancing at a rate that matches her physical development. A 5’10” setter in the class of 2030 with a state ranking warrants a prolonged evaluation in Indianapolis.  I will be front and center to see her in action and will report out on what we evaluate about her so stay tuned.
